CAMP Basics

The goal of the CAMP system is to give you the tools to recapture power over food---power you gave up long ago.
If you are like most others in our modern culture, you allow other people, events and emotions to control how you eat, how much you eat, how fast you eat and how you use food in your life.

Unfortunately, when you give up your control in this way, you allow mindless eating to be the rule. Over time, this unskilled way of eating can result in unhappiness with food and how your body responds to it.

The CAMP System allows you to recapture self-control over food and eating by following three personal paths to power:

It's not what you eat, but rather how you eat it that matters.

Attain Control through Attitudes, Mindfulness & Portions
ATTITUDES. With a mindful change of attitudes, you learn to see food in a new way. You appreciate food more, recognize its great gifts, and give it--and yourself--an heightened sense of respect.
MINDFUL EATING. With mindful eating, you learn to slow down your eating and truly pay attention to your food. CAMP techniques include arriving at food, awakening to food, tuning in to the body and extending mindfulness to any and all activities related to food and eating.
PORTIONS. With mindful portions strategies, you learn to challenge all your old eating behaviors and assumptions. You also develop effective ways to create boundaries for yourself in your eating.
As you gain skills along these three paths, your power over food returns. Then, food not only feeds your body but brings sustenance to your mind and spirit as well. The result is eating less food but enjoying it far more.

Thus, the CAMP System derives its name from its components: Control, Attitudes,
Mindful Eating and Portions.
